UNO or Oh No?

The festive time of year is here, and even though most(I mean ALL) of us won’t be spending the holidays at large family gatherings this year(Thanks COVID-19!). Most of you will hopefully still have some downtime to spend with members of your household. This means it’s time to pull out those board games and card games as an excellent way to have fun, pass time, and depending on how competitive you are maybe even make some enemies. Time to whip out your deck of UNO cards. Don’t have one? Time to purchase some! Just be sure to scroll to the reviews section before hitting buy so you know what you’re getting yourself into.

Uno is a classic card game dating back to 1971 and is to this day a well known and loved household staple when it comes to card games. The large amount of positive reviews on Amazon speaks to this.

Like almost all products sold online though it also has it’s one star reviews. Most seem reasonable… For example some of you who ordered the tin received damaged and dented tins. Cards were thinner than expected or colors were faded.

But like most products sold online it also has a handful of one star reviews that make you raise an eyebrow.

Wrong cards - These cards only came with wild, yellow and red cards. No blue and green cards.”

A surprising number of one star reviews claim that the deck of cards only had 2 of the 4 colors in them. A very reasonable complaint though given that the product details for this particular pack of UNO cards says the color is null. I’m not quite sure what people were expecting. In fact I’m surprised the entire deck was not composed of only wild cards.

“One Star - Played alone, doesn’t work”

This is exceptionally sad. Unfortunately given the current state of the things, 2 years into a worldwide pandemic with things looking particularly bleak going into the holidays with new variants popping up all over the place, there may be more of these types of reviews appearing as folks do their part to try end the chaos by staying socially distant.

I returned the item UNO. - I did return the UNO game via Kohl's department store in late December 2020. Please check again as I did return the game.
Sincerely,
Joe Smith”

At first this seemed very confusing to me. Bought it on Amazon but returned it at Kohl’s. But I later realized it’s probably a case of there being a UPS drop off or some other Amazon returns method at the department store. Sounds like the item was returned there but a refund was never issued. When I see this though, I can’t help picturing someone pleading with a librarian. Desperately trying to convince them they returned a book on time, not to let them incur late fees, or worse, confiscate their library card.

Really un-interesting game - BORING - The game itself sucks"

It’s UNO! Who doesn’t like UNO? Okay, sure, there might be some people out there who don’t like UNO. But it’s UNO! One of the most well known card games of all time. Surely you’d know what you’re getting yourself into.

I don’t understand the game - I read the instructions but didn't understand, then went online, read instructions, and didn't comprehend. I play winning chess, but this game remains a mystery. The only thing accomplished by purchasing was to make myself feel stupid temporarily. Don't need frustration in my life. Returned for a refund.”

It’s UNO!! The rules really aren’t that complicated.

What do you mean not suitable for present company? It’s UNO!!! Not an R rated movie!

Not suitable for present company. - I would like to RETURN for a FULL REFUND.>”
